This is the first dedicated on-site digital support role at St Mary's Hospice, created because we recognise that excellent care depends on reliable, accessible technology. We are in the early stages of delivering a digital strategy that will see us migrate to Microsoft 365 by November 2026, strengthen our cyber security posture, improve clinical system reliability, and reduce the day-to-day friction that takes time away from caring.

We work alongside an external Managed Service Provider (MSP) for core infrastructure and have access to specialist digital strategy guidance. What we are missing is someone here on the ground, part of the team who can be the friendly, knowledgeable first point of contact for all things digital. This is a growth role.

We are looking for someone with a solid foundation of IT skills, a genuine curiosity to learn, and the kind of attitude that means they will roll up their sleeves and help wherever they can. You do not need to be a seasoned expert. You need to be reliable, thoughtful, keen to develop, and comfortable working in a caring environment where the people around you may not be technically confident.

You will be mentored and supported, with dedicated time from a specialist digital advisor (two days per month on-site initially) to help you build your skills, your confidence, and your understanding of how technology and care fit together.

Main duties of the job include communication. You will be working with people from across the hospice who have very different levels of confidence with technology, often in busy or emotionally demanding situations. Being able to listen carefully, explain things clearly, adapt your approach, and build trust with colleagues is just as important as technical ability. You will not be expected to succeed in isolation. You will be supported by an external MSP and a specialist digital advisor, with dedicated mentoring time to help you build your skills.
