At our wonderful warehouse in Barrow, we have a rare opportunity to join our amazing retail team as one of our Furniture Warehouse managers. We need your great local knowledge of the area and more widely your general wisdom. If you have job-specific relevant knowledge that is a plus.
We do enjoy a curious and enquiring mind and welcome entrepreneurial ideas - together we can maximise the income from donated items to raise vital funds for SMH. Being a small local charity, forward-thinking and not burdened with a long chain of command or red-tape, the default answer to new ideas is often 'yes' or 'Let's try that, why not?'.
You will need to be able to think on your feet to prioritise tasks - it's a fast-paced environment with never a dull moment. It's an active role, both mentally and physically so versatility is a must - can you multi-task but still pay attention to the important details?
We would wish you to hold our Hospice values dear (Caring, aspiring, professional, sustainability) and have a passion for our charity as you will be representing us in your everyday working role. Communication skills are essential - you will work alongside other staff, drivers, a team of keen volunteers who are the lifeblood of our organisation and of course the great British public - our valued customers and donators.
If you have the gift of the gab and are happy-go-lucky, a 'glass half full' kind of person then you will fit in just fine. Being organised is key to juggling all the hats you will need to wear in order to deal with the varied tasks each day will bring. If you are practical and efficient that's an absolute bonus.
Each day will bring different challenges, we hope you are the person who will relish those opportunities and thrive in our busy and vast wonderful warehouse. Not just exclusively furniture; we have books, Bric a Brac and so much more too!
