Exam Invigilator

Examinations (internal and external) take place throughout the academic year, including mock examination seasons usually held in October, February and April, and the main external examination season during May and June. External examinations are also held in November and January and throughout the year. To remain on the list of invigilators, you will also be required to attend additional (paid) training sessions throughout the year, no less than once a term, in addition to mandatory school-wide training and update sessions. Examinations usually take place in morning and afternoon sessions between 8.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. While invigilators may indicate which sessions they are available to work, successful applicants must be flexible and available for at least 2 whole days or 4 half days during each main exam week to ensure exam requirements are met. As an Exam Invigilator, you will help maintain the integrity of the examination process by supervising students, ensuring compliance with JCQ regulations, and responding appropriately to issues that arise during an exam session. Invigilators must conduct and supervise examinations in line with JCQ Regulations and ensure that candidates follow those regulations. Full training is provided, but professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safeguarding are essential. Applications are invited from candidates available for the main exam periods and contingency dates, who can commit to a minimum number of sessions and complete all required training and updates in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise candidates during examinations, ensuring all JCQ regulations are followed.
• Distribute, collect, and manage exam papers and materials securely.
• Maintain a calm and supportive atmosphere for students.
• Follow emergency, evacuation, and behaviour management procedures when required.
• Report incidents or irregularities accurately and promptly.
• Uphold confidentiality, safeguarding, and professional standards at all times.
• Mandatory Training (provided):
• Safeguarding and child protection training.
• Confirmation of reading Keeping Children Safe in Education (Part 1).
• JCQ exam board invigilator training.
• Annual policy and procedure updates.
• Ability to remain alert and vigilant.
• Ability to carry out the physical aspects of the role, with reasonable adjustments where required.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to follow detailed procedures.
• Competent use of IT, including Microsoft Office and email.
• English Language Requirements: Invigilators must demonstrate clear proficiency in spoken and written English to:
• Read and understand exam instructions.
• Communicate effectively with candidates.
• Complete incident reports.
• Provide clear spoken instructions when required.
