Location: ST MARY'S CATHOLIC SCHOOL, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Salary: £26,403 – £27,254 per annum (pro rata).

Working hours: 37 hours per week during term time plus 11 additional days. Typical hours: 8:30–16:30 Monday; 8:00–16:00 Tuesday–Thursday; 8:00–15:30 Friday.

Start date: September 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students, especially those with SEND, throughout the school.
  • Lead the new language and communication support programme.
  • Engage with students to help them overcome a range of learning difficulties.
  • Support the Catholic/Christian ethos at St Mary's.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Hardworking, flexible and possessing excellent communication skills.
  • English to GCSE or equivalent is required.
  • Experience with children or young people is welcomed but not mandatory; full training will be provided.
  • Prepared to support a range of learning difficulties.
