Location: Bowburn Manor, Durham

Hours: Full Time

Contract: Permanent

Salary: Competitive

Help Us Build More Than a Care Home

Bowburn Manor is preparing to open its doors as Durham's newest luxury care home, and we're looking for an experienced and dependable Maintenance Person to join our founding team.

As part of the trusted St Mary's Care Group, we're creating more than a beautiful building. We're creating a safe, welcoming and comfortable home where residents can enjoy life to the fullest.

Behind every well maintained home is someone who takes pride in the details.

The freshly painted wall.

The perfectly maintained gardens.

The light that changed before anyone notices it's failed.

The reassurance that everything is safe, secure and working exactly as it should.

If you're practical, proactive and take pride in a job well done, this could be the perfect role for you.

The Opportunity

As Maintenance Person, you'll play a key role in ensuring Bowburn Manor remains a safe, welcoming and well presented environment for residents, visitors and colleagues.

From planned maintenance and compliance checks to supporting contractors and maintaining our beautiful surroundings, you'll help ensure our home always operates at the high standards our residents deserve.

You'll be a trusted member of the team whose work often goes unnoticed when everything is running smoothly, but whose contribution is absolutely invaluable.

What You'll Be Doing

Keeping Our Home Safe and Secure

Carry out routine maintenance and repairs throughout the home, ensuring residents enjoy a safe and comfortable environment.

Supporting Compliance

Complete planned preventative maintenance schedules and statutory checks, including fire safety systems, emergency lighting, water testing and other compliancerelated tasks.

Maintaining Our Beautiful Environment

Help ensure both the interior and exterior of the home remain well presented and maintained to luxury standards.

Looking After the Grounds

Maintain outdoor areas, pathways, signage, gardens and communal spaces so that Bowburn Manor always looks its best.

Managing Repairs Efficiently

Identify, report and where possible resolve maintenance issues before they become larger problems.

Working with Contractors

Support external contractors and suppliers, ensuring work is carried out safely and efficiently.

Maintaining Accurate Records

Keep maintenance logs, compliance records and planned maintenance schedules up to date and accurate.

Being Part of the Team

Work collaboratively with colleagues across the home to support residents and contribute to a positive working environment.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, has a practical approach and takes real pride in maintaining high standards.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, property care or a similar role.
  • Good all round DIY and repair skills.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Experience carrying out routine maintenance checks and records.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • A positive, flexible and proactive attitude.

Experience within a care, healthcare, hospitality or residential environment would be beneficial but is not essential.

Most importantly, you'll be someone who genuinely cares about creating a safe and welcoming environment for others.

Why Bowburn Manor?

  • Join an exciting new luxury care home before opening.
  • Shape the catering service from the very beginning.
  • Competitive salary and benefits.
  • Career development opportunities within St Mary's Care Group.
  • Supportive leadership and investment in your success.
  • The chance to build something you'll be proud of.

Join Our Opening Team

This is a rare opportunity to leave your mark on a brand new home and create a dining experience that residents, families and colleagues will remember.

If you're ready to build something exceptional, we'd love to hear from you.
