As our Kitchen Assistant, you'll play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents by:

  • Assisting the Cook with the preparation of varied, nutritious meals for the residents.
  • Helping with the serving of meals for residents, being understanding of any specific food requirements and ensuring everyone is treated with respect, dignity, and given choice.
  • Understanding and complying with statutory and legal requirements such as HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH, Environmental Health, and maintaining a safe environment throughout the home.
  • Cleaning and tidying all areas of the kitchen with the correct products following instruction and guidance contained in the cleaning schedules, ensuring the Care Home is always cleaned to the highest standards.
  • Ensuring that all kitchen equipment is in full, safe working order, immediately reporting any faults to the Cook and the Caretaker.
  • Receiving and unloading new stock, storing appropriately and rotating current stock correctly to maintain optimum freshness of all foodstuff.
  • Working as an integral part of the team, contributing to meetings and training sessions as required, ensuring that the Care Home is a friendly and supportive working environment.
