We are currently recruiting for a Midday Supervisor to work as a valued member of our dedicated Midday team. We want to help make good lunchtime memories for our pupils so it is essential that you can demonstrate an attitude which is appropriate to the school environment.
Each Midday Supervisory Assistant will be allocated areas for children for whom they will be responsible each day. This could vary from day to day on a rota basis. Although the area will be divided so that each Supervisory Assistant looks after a specific group or area each day, they must be prepared to accept a variation if any emergency calls another Midday Supervisor away.
The main areas of work responsibility will be the dining room and the playground or areas of the school used during the dinner break, including areas where the children wait or queue for their meal. It is important that a good standard or behaviour is maintained throughout the dinner period, ensuring a pleasant time for all concerned. The Midday Supervisor must act as a responsible caring adult with the health, safety, and welfare of the children always in mind; must show conduct which commands respect; and must see that the children behave, sensibly and quietly.
Our school has very recently been awarded a Platinum Standard Quality Mark by the OPAL scheme. We are very proud of the efforts that have been put in to achieve this award, and we would be looking for a candidate that would help us to maintain this high standard.
The Midday Supervisory Assistant must be aware of how to get access to the first aid equipment and to the telephone, and of the fire evacuation procedures in the event of it not being possible to contact, in an emergency the Senior Midday Supervisor or the Head Teacher.
St Mary’s is a proud partner academy of SNMAT. Being part of this Trust is unlike working for others because they share our drive to provide the very best quality of education for our children. We are not bound by corporate colours or policies, meaning that your input could truly make a difference to our provision.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and would expect anyone joining our school to share the same ethos. All candidates are subject to safer recruitment procedures. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure.
The closing date for this vacancy is 9am on Tuesday 1st September 2026.
