St Barnabas Trust is looking to recruit a highly motivated and talented Level 3 Nursery Assistant to join our Outdoor Nursery at St Martins C of E Primary School. Working alongside our passionate EYFS team, you will support and extend the learning of our 3- and 4-year-olds within our fantastic 'Wild Warriors' outdoor nursery.

We are looking for a practitioner who has a rich knowledge of the EYFS framework and a genuine passion for outdoor-based education. In this role, you will help children develop their curiosity and independence through a vibrant mix of adult-led and child-initiated play. From using tools and cooking on an open fire to taking purposeful risks, you will be key to creating safe, thrilling, and memorable learning experiences in the great outdoors.

St Martins is a vibrant and nurturing church school for children aged 3-11. Our dedicated team works closely to recognise and develop each child’s unique gifts and talents, helping them flourish in confidence, character and independence. Alongside a strong academic foundation, we offer an embedded outdoor adventure curriculum that inspires curiosity, exploration and a lifelong love of learning.

The role is a term time only, fixed term position to work 1 day per week from 8.35 am to 3.20pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Successful candidates will be invited to interview on the 1st July 2026. Candidates will be required to plan and deliver a 15-minute outdoor learning activity with a small group of children. The task should demonstrate your ability to capture children’s interests and reflect Early Years Foundation Stage learning objectives. (Please note this a fixed term contract until 31st August 2027).

  • Holds a Level 3 Early Years qualification and a current Paediatric First Aid certificate.
  • Is passionate about nature-based education, with a genuine drive to create rich, inspiring outdoor learning experiences.
  • Champions child-led play, exploration, and well-being, helping children develop confidence and independence in the natural world.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of the EYFS framework and how 3- and 4-year-olds learn through active discovery.
  • Has proven experience in an Early Years setting, including a practical understanding of maintaining safe, dynamic, and purposeful outdoor environments.
  • Is skilled at leading and managing small groups during focused, high-quality learning activities.
  • Promotes true inclusion, ensuring children with a diverse range of needs are fully supported to explore and thrive outdoors.
