St Margaret\’s Hospice Care has a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical Educator.
- Salary: £39,340 per annum (pro rata for part time)
- Location: Taunton (Opportunity for Hybrid working, depending on delivery needs)

- Working Pattern:We can support part time working of 22.5 hours per week up to full time hours of 37

Main duties of the job
Working as part of a team, you will lead on all areas of clinical learning, including clinical skills education and developing our online learning community.
You will also help us to reach audiences we can\’t currently reach by delivering training in the community. Working with a wide variety of people, you will connect with and make a difference to healthcare professionals and organisations across Somerset.
You will play a vital role in:
- Creating a supportive learning environment –Enable learners to become skilled practitioners and advocate for the best end of life care in Somerset.
- Building a skilled workforce– Support clinical staff of all grades and disciplines to achieve their professional objectives, bridging the gap between theory to practice.
- Developing the clinical workforce of the future –Take thelead on upskilling staff and ensuring that excellent care is maintained.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Working with the Inpatient and Community teams to deliver a programme of clinical skills training
- Planning and delivering training courses
- Supporting the development of our outreach education session across the county
- Supporting students on placements across the hospice
- Evaluating learners progress and performance
- Contributing content to our new learning management system, supporting with its development and maintenance, and the opportunity to develop more online learning
- Contributing to innovation in learning e.g., development of virtual reality

Job responsibilities
Working closely with the ClinicalEducation Lead, you will:
- Plan and produce appropriate training coursesand resources for both St Margaret\’s Staff and external audiences.
- Lead the planning and delivering ECHO, the onlinecommunity of practice for external audiences. This will include developing the programme,advertising, and monitoring.
- Work with the Inpatient and Community teams, plan and delivera programme of clinical skills upskilling for all level staff, including support on competencies
- Evaluate learners progress andperformance, varying the approach and resources as required.
- Actively contribute to smile, thelearning management system – including content, compliance, development, andmaintenance
- Work closely with key clinicalstakeholders, such as Clinical Governance and the Inpatient and Community teams.
- Have aflexible approach to the working week, being prepared to travel to Yeovil andother training venues. Taunton is the work base.

Education/ Qualifications
- Experienced clinical educator
- Experience of educating in a health care setting
- Further qualification in clinical education
- Coaching qualification
- Experience of End-of-Life care
- Being a good role model with high standards of clinical expertise.

Working with others
- Thorough and up to date knowledge of best practice in clinical education
- Experience in teaching and supervising clinical learners
- Have knowledge of practice placement requirements, and knowledge of current local and national guidance and priorities related to this role.
- Experience of student Nurse or allied health professional placements and key relationships with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)
