Young people are entering a world of rapid technological, economic and social change. Career pathways are becoming less linear, artificial intelligence is reshaping professional life, and employers increasingly value communication, creativity, collaboration, initiative and judgement alongside knowledge and qualifications. The Director of Enterprise and Employability will shape St Margaret’s response by building a distinctive programme that connects education with the world beyond school.
The Director will report to the Head of Sixth Form and lead the enterprise, employability and professional engagement elements of the school’s Futures provision. Working closely with the Head, senior leaders, academic and pastoral colleagues, Admissions and Marketing, the Director will develop pupils’ professional confidence, enterprise skills and access to meaningful networks and workplace experiences. They will also lead the development and delivery of the inaugural St Margaret’s Business School in July 2027. The role does not include responsibility for UCAS or university applications, but the Director will work closely with relevant colleagues to ensure that the school’s provision is coherent and complementary.
The successful candidate must be as comfortable coaching a nervous pupil before an interview as they are building an employer relationship, communicating an opportunity or planning a major event. They will inherit ambition rather than a finished model. We are looking for someone who will relish that freedom, bring ideas of their own and turn them into an energetic, visible and valuable programme for our pupils.
