We are currently seeking a Bank Chef to join our catering team in our Taunton Hospice. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to demonstrate creativity alongside their culinary skills. You will join us on a casual basis, covering annual leave and sickness within the team. In return, you will receive an hourly rate of £13.37 plus 14% unsocial hours enhancement and a range of benefits.

What can you expect to be doing? With the support of our kitchen assistants and volunteers, your day-to-day work will include:

  • Working with fresh, seasonal ingredients to create well balanced and innovative meals.
  • Demonstrating creativity in menus, meals for functions, and retail food to reflect the diversity of our patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Undertaking opening and closing checks and completing relevant documentation in line with safer foods better business and requirements of environmental health inspections.
  • Where necessary, modifying dishes to meet patients' dietary requirements.
  • Introducing the service to all patients and families on the Inpatient Unit.
  • Discussing their individual requirements for each meal with attention to their appetite, preference, food allergies, religious and ethnic dietary needs.

The catering service operates over 7 days a week, including bank holidays, between the hours of 7am and 7.30pm. If you are looking for a role where you can make a significant contribution to the overall catering experience, we would be delighted to hear from you.

What can you expect to be good at? You will need to:

  • Be passionate about the production of high-quality food, that enhances our patients' experience in the hospice.
  • Have a good working knowledge of food hygiene, including all allergens and Natasha's Law.

The role is based at the Taunton Hospice, but there may be a need to cover some catering activity at our Yeovil Hospice.
