We are currently seeking an experienced Bank Chef to join our catering team.
Hourly rate: £13.37 plus 14% unsocial hours enhancement.
Location: Taunton
Contract: Casual Working

- Demonstrate creativity alongside your culinary skills – Work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to create well balanced and innovative meals. All of our meals are cooked from scratch with locally sourced ingredients.
- Be an important part of people\’s journeys – The support our Catering Team provides is invaluable and recognised throughout the Hospice. You will really be able to build a rapport with patients and support their families.
- Play a vital role in generating income for the Hospice – We have lots of exciting projects in the pipeline and you will get to be a part of them – whether it\’s providing catering at events and celebrations, our new takeaway service, or staff barbecues
What can you expect to be doing?
With the support of our kitchen assistants and volunteers, your day-to-day work will include:
- Demonstrating creativity in menus, meals for functions, and retail food to reflect the diversity of our patients, staff, and visitors.
- Where necessary, modifying dishes to meet patients\’ dietary requirements.
- Introducing the service to all patients and families on the Inpatient Unit. Discussing their individual needs for each meal with attention to their appetite, preference, food allergies, religious and ethnic dietary needs.
- The catering service operates over 7 days a week, including bank holidays, between the hours of 7am and 7pm.

What can you expect to be good at?
You will need to:
- Be passionate about the production of high-quality food, that enhances our patients experience in the hospice.
- Have a good working knowledge of food hygiene, including all allergens and Natasha\’s Law.
The role is based at the Taunton Hospice, but there may be a need to cover some catering activity at our Yeovil Hospice.
