Are you an experienced Maintenance Assistant looking for a new and rewarding opportunity? St Margaret’s Hospice Care has a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our friendly Estates team at our Taunton Hospice.
Salary: ÂŁ4,818.98 per annum (for 7 hours per week)
Working pattern: Part time, working 9:00am – 4:30pm on Fridays
Contract: Permanent
You’ll be part of a welcoming, community‑minded charity where the patient is at the heart of everything we do. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys practical work and wants to make a real difference as part of a supportive team.
What can you expect to be doing? As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll support the delivery of maintenance and repair services across our hospice site, providing a confidential and customer‑focused service. Your day‑to‑day duties will include:
- Reactive maintenance, such as:
- Replacing taps
- Furniture repairs
- Unblocking sinks and drains
- Clearing gutters
- Adjusting fire doors
- Re‑decoration tasks
- Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)
- Emergency lighting tests
- Fire panel testing
- Cleaning or replacing AHU / air‑conditioning filters
- Disinfection and flushing of taps and showers
- Enabling works for minor projects
- Moving furniture
- Supporting contractor visits
- Communicating progress with stakeholders
What will you be good at? You will have:
- Recent experience and knowledge of daily building maintenance tasks and ongoing repairs.
- A working knowledge of health and safety regulations, ensuring all areas are safe for patients, staff, and visitors.
