The Governors of Withern St Margaret’s Church of England Primary are seeking an inspirational, committed and efficiently organised Headteacher. Rated Good by both Ofsted (March 2022) and SIAMS (Nov 2024), our school has a strong foundation of care, community and ambition. Our Church of England School is popular both within and beyond its catchment area and consistently delivers outcomes for children in the top 10% nationally.

Last summer saw the departure of both our Acting Headteacher (for a full-time role) and our longstanding substantive Headteacher, who also led the Lincolnshire Research School. The appointment of an Interim Headteacher in August has provided stability and direction for the school, staff pupils and parents. We are now ready to appoint a permanent Headteacher who can build on this momentum, secure sustained improvement and lead our school into its next chapter with vision, integrity and warmth.

What we are able to offer:

  • The opportunity to lead a dedicated, experienced and motivated staff team, committed to helping every child achieve their full potential.
  • A supportive and engaged Governing Body, who will encourage your leadership style, contribute to school improvement and maintain clear accountability.
  • A vibrant Church of England school with a safe, welcoming and inspiring learning environment, fostering a friendly, inclusive and values-driven atmosphere.
  • The chance to work with enthusiastic, well-behaved and motivated children who are eager to learn and embrace new challenges.
  • Strong partnerships with supportive families and the wider community, enabling the school to celebrate achievements and strengthen its impact.

We are looking for a leader with:

  • A strong commitment to the school’s Christian vision and inclusive values, nurturing a culture of worship, shared values and moral purpose, while ensuring all pupils flourish socially, emotionally, spiritually and academically.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate and empower a team of dedicated staff, fostering collaboration, professional growth and a culture of high expectations.
  • A child-centred approach, placing the wellbeing, attainment, behaviour and personal development of every pupil at the heart of all decisions and strategies.
  • Strategic vision and innovation, capable of thinking long-term, driving school improvement and leading Withern St Margaret’s through its next phase of development with clarity and ambition.
  • Deep understanding of primary teaching and learning, ensuring that every lesson is purposeful, engaging, inclusive and supports high standards of achievement for all pupils.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, being visible, approachable and collaborative, building positive relationships with pupils, staff, families, governors and the wider community.
  • Operational and professional integrity, with the drive to maintain a safe, well-organised and effective learning environment that promotes equity, accountability and excellence.
  • Empathy and emotional intelligence, leading with resilience, calmness and moral purpose and inspiring trust, confidence and a shared sense of responsibility across the school community.
