Mission of the Position

The primary mission of the Children’s Ministries Communications Coordinator is to support the spiritual formation of children and families by ensuring clear, timely, welcoming, and strategic communication for all Children’s Ministries programs, events, and volunteer efforts. The Coordinator serves as the communications hub for the ministry and collaborates closely with the church-wide Communications Team to ensure consistency in branding, messaging, and outreach.

Essential Duties – Communications & Media Support

  • Create, curate, and schedule Children’s Ministries content across multiple platforms, including weekly, monthly, and special event communications.
  • Develop compelling informational, invitational, and storytelling communication targeted to parents, volunteers, children, staff, and the congregation.
  • Collaborate with the church Communications Team to submit publicity requests, align branding, and ensure ministry-wide consistency.
  • Create and implement promotional campaigns for Children’s Ministries events to increase awareness, participation, and engagement.
  • Maintain the annual communications calendar that integrates weekly, monthly, and seasonal ministry rhythms.

Administrative Functions

  • Assist with attendance procedures, Sunday morning materials, records, newsletters, and communication-related administrative tasks.
  • Maintain and update digital records of volunteers, families, and event participants.
  • Assist with check-in systems, classroom signage, event registrations, and Sunday morning communications logistics.
  • Manage communication follow-up for families, volunteers, and staff regarding events, deadlines, registrations, and scheduling.
  • Perform all other administrative duties related to communication as needed.

Volunteer & Team Support

  • Provide communication support to volunteers by sending weekly reminders, updates, instructions, and event-specific information.
  • Support volunteer recruitment campaigns throughout the year especially for major events.
  • Serve as communication liaison between Children’s Ministries staff, volunteers, families, and the church Communications Team.

Financial Duties

  • Process online registration funds, event payments, and communication-related reimbursements.
  • Coordinate with supervisor for communication material purchases, design requests, and event-related expenses.

Requirements

Education

  • High school diploma required
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, ministry, or related field preferred

Experience

  • Two to four years of experience in communications, ministry support, marketing, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; database and social media management, Canva, and Adobe Suite experience preferred
  • Familiarity with church communication processes or ministry environments preferred
