The Ward Clerk plays a key role at the heart of St Lukes Inpatient Centre, providing a professional, compassionate and organised administrative service. You will be the first point of contact for patients, families, visitors and professionals, helping to create a welcoming and supportive environment at a sensitive time. Working closely with nursing, medical and reception teams, you will support the smooth running of the ward by maintaining accurate patient records, coordinating communication and ensuring timely administrative support that directly contributes to high‑quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver high‑quality reception and administrative support within the Inpatient Centre.
- Welcome and assist patients, relatives and visitors.
- Manage telephone, email and face‑to‑face enquiries.
- Maintain accurate patient records on electronic systems such as SystmOne.
- Support admissions, discharges and daily referral meetings.
- Liaise with internal teams and external agencies including transport services and funeral directors.
- Prepare patient documentation and produce reports.
- Ensure information is handled confidentially.
- Support volunteers and manage general administrative tasks.
- Contribute to a calm, well‑organised ward environment.
