Start: April 2026 – the post will cease when the permanent holder returns to duty or the position becomes vacant.

About the Department

Modern Foreign Languages is a cohesive team of eight members (full‑ and part‑time). The Head of Department is supported by one TLR post‑holder. We promote curiosity and diversity, valuing difference through cultural exploration “from every nation, tribe and tongue”. Equal opportunity for staff and students is a core value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach French and German to Key St 3 and Key St 4 pupils, applying the latest curriculum and assessment standards.
  • Plan, deliver and assess lessons that encourage the development of language skills and cultural awareness.
  • Collaborate with department colleagues to design cross‑curricular activities and share best practice.
  • Engage with pupils’ parents and the wider school community to promote the importance of language learning.
  • Maintain accurate teaching records and contribute to staff development plans.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified teacher or trainee teacher with a strong background in French and German.
  • Experience teaching Key St 3 and Key St 4 is highly desirable.
  • Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills and an inclusive, supportive attitude.
