The Women's Rugby Head Coach is responsible for preparing St. Lawrence College student-athletes for successful competition within the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA), and the Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association (CCAA). This position reports to the Manager of Athletics & Student Engagement and receives guidance from the Athletics & Student Engagement Coordinators and Engagement Content Creator.

The Head Coach will work alongside regional coaches that assist in the implementation of program plans at each campus.

  • Develop and implement program plans (daily practice plans and annual plan) for the technical, tactical, and physical preparation of the golf team for success in OCAA & CCAA competition.
  • Supervise the team's part-time coaching staff, ensuring coaches are fulfilling the practice, competition and recruitment plans.
  • Identify and recruit quality prospective student-athletes, considering academic & athletic excellence.
  • Support and mentor the student-athlete's commitment to academic standing, athletic excellence, leadership, and responsible conduct.
  • Maintain effective communication and administration amongst coaches, players, and athletic staff.
  • Positive promotion of the program to alumni and community.
  • Travel with, and supervise team on all road trips.
  • Support and act in accordance to the college and department strategic direction, core values and initiatives as they relate to student-athlete support, general promotions, budget management, appropriate administrative responsibilities, and community/alumni relations.
  • Adherence and compliance with St. Lawrence College, OCAA and CCAA policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Valid Advanced Development Coach (ADV) or National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Certification (or working towards).
  • A minimum of 4 years coaching experience at a competitive level (high school, club and/or College/University levels).
  • Current certification in First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Conditions of Employment

  • A valid and recent Police Background Check obtained by the successful candidate will need to be provided as a condition of employment.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Candidates will require flexible hours regarding travel and various games times for coaching activities.
  • Ability to recruit and retain highly qualified student athletes.
  • Ability to demonstrate St. Lawrence College values as outlined in the strategic plan.
  • Excellent administrative skills and able to meet deadlines and work within a departmental setting.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, leadership, and sportsmanship skills.
  • The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location. Travel is required in this position.

Salary & Terms

Admin Group: $6,492.29 per annum, plus 6% in lieu of vacation.
