St. Lawrence College is currently seeking qualified Professors on a part-time basis with experience and expertise in the Medical Laboratory Assistant-Technician program.

We are seeking an individual experienced to teach in the following courses within the Medical Laboratory Assistant-Technician program:

  • LABS 1001: Laboratory Foundations - This theory course provides an overview of the Medical Laboratory profession and the Canadian healthcare system. Students will gain an understanding of the Quality Management and Safety Legislation that governs laboratory operations and patient care.
  • LABS 1002: Laboratory Skills 1 - This integrated laboratory-theory course introduces students to the principles and techniques of specimen collection and microscopy in the medical laboratory science field.
  • TRAN 1001: Blood Science - This integrated laboratory-theory course offers a comprehensive introduction to clinical hematology and transfusion science.

These positions will be primarily located at the Kingston Campus; however, occasional travel to support programs on other campuses may be requested. Candidates may be required to teach from an online/alternate delivery format on occasion. Candidates must be available to teach Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., with the possibility of working on Saturday and Sunday.

The responsibilities of St. Lawrence College Professors include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating a positive learning environment that accommodates students’ diverse culture and educational backgrounds.
  • Effectively using educational and advanced technologies to enhance the student learning experience.
  • Developing curriculum that is appropriately designed and uses evidence-based tools and strategies to support and assess student learning.
  • Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process.
  • Ensuring that course and program curriculum is current and relevant.
  • Working effectively with learners, colleagues, and internal and external partners.
  • Effectively using the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning to build a contemporary and evidence-based practice.

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the following qualifications:

  • EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / DESIGNATION: Bachelor of Science Degree, a graduate of a Medical Laboratory Science Program, and registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO).
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant, current experience working in the Medical Laboratory Science field.
  • Knowledge or Skills: Demonstrated thorough knowledge of current trends in laboratory practice (CMLTO and CSMLS), teaching experience at the post-secondary level, and a demonstrated commitment to putting “students first”.

Candidates who do not meet the specified education but who possess a relevant and acceptable combination of education, training, and a depth of industry experience may be considered.

Salary and Terms: $80.62 – $139.88 hourly base rate, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Start Date: January 5, 2026. Closing Date: November 17, 2025 (4:00 p.m.).
