We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our Nursery team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing healthy, nutritious snacks and a willingness to learn in a dynamic kitchen environment. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing morning and afternoon snacks, ensuring food safety standards are met, maintaining an organised workspace and doing snacks/dinners with the children. The role will also require you to help in other areas/rooms of the nursery as required.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of meals/snacks
- Heating/preparing packed lunches
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen operations
- Help with the organisation of kitchen supplies and equipment to ensure efficient workflow
- Clean and sanitise work areas, utensils, and equipment after use
- Support the practitioners during busy service periods by supervising dinner/snack times where necessary
- General tidy of the nursery i.e. washing, cleaning and tidying
- Support staff ensuring the smooth running of the nursery with organisation and preparation for events/outings
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is advantageous but not essential; enthusiasm is key
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is preferred
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food preparation tasks
- Flexibility to work various shifts
