Salary: £37,041 per annum plus additional on-call payments.

The Estates Team is an integral part of the hospital and consists of 6 staff and cover PPM’s and reactive repairs for the site. You will need to work closely with the Engineering Manager to plan and carry out engineering/building maintenance programmes and to help achieve compliance with legislative and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will be required to undertake work as identified on allocated work orders, such as carrying out inspections, tests, repairs and installations on hospital property, plant and infrastructure.
  • You will also need to update the Fixx system in an informative and timely manner.
  • Heavily involved in the day-to-reactive maintenance service, you will need to ensure that we are providing an efficient and patient focused service to the hospital.
  • You will need to possess strong team working traits, be flexible, calm under pressure and have excellent communication skills to effectively carry out demanding maintenance duties and investigative processes.
  • As part of the role, you will be required to be on the on-call rota and be flexible in your working days to fit patient activity.
  • The postholder will be expected to carry out both routine and complex maintenance requests in an efficient and effective manner to support successful delivery of a patient focus estate maintenance service for the hospital and support the engineering manager in the management and supervision of in-house and contract labour to ensure effective maintenance in operation of all buildings, plant and the associated services.
  • The postholder must be willing to attend training courses to enhance the role and to ensure progression within the department.

Person Specification

  • NVQ in electrical or plumbing
  • Have experience of managing routine maintenance, statutory and mandatory compliance requirements and property/estate management including facilities and grounds maintenance
  • Technical expertise in engineering
  • Level 2 certificates in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Have experience in a health or care environment
