St Joseph’s Hospital is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to actively deliver growth in private patient activity, with a primary focus on Self‑Pay and Insured patients. This is a hands‑on, delivery‑focused role responsible for generating demand, developing referral relationships and converting opportunities into admissions across key private services.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate new private patient activity across priority service lines including orthopaedics, ophthalmology, diagnostics and elective surgery.
- Deliver agreed business development plans aligned to the commercial strategy set by the Commercial Director.
- Promote self‑pay pathways, fixed‑price packages and financing options to improve conversion.
- Support growth in insured patient volumes through referrer and consultant engagement.
- Build and maintain referral relationships with GP practices, Primary Care Networks, physiotherapists and allied health professionals.
- Engage insurers, brokers and case managers to increase insured activity.
- Plan and deliver practice visits, education sessions and CPD events.
Consultant Engagement
- Support consultants to increase private patient referrals and utilisation.
- Act as a day‑to‑day commercial contact for consultants, supporting pathway clarity and access.
- Assist with onboarding new consultants to drive activity growth.
- Actively manage business development opportunities through a defined sales pipeline.
- Oversee and manage the enquiry and booking teams to improve private patient enquiry‑to‑admission conversion.
- Ensure patients and referrers understand pricing, pathways and the private patient experience.
Marketing Alignment, Promotional activities & Reporting
- Oversee and manage the marketing & communications lead to ensure campaigns support private growth priorities.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and activity tracking.
- Provide regular reporting to the Commercial Director on private activity and outcomes.
Person Specification
- Proven experience in business development, sales or growth‑focused roles.
- Demonstrable ability to generate new referrals or activity.
- Strong relationship‑building and influencing skills.
- Commercial awareness within a healthcare or regulated service environment.
- Experience working in private healthcare or hospital settings.
- Experience working with clinicians or referral‑based services.
- Understanding of self‑pay and insured patient pathways.
