The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care across all areas of the Surgical Unit. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring safety, dignity and comfort throughout their care pathway.
Main duties of the job:
- Deliver safe and effective nursing care in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct.
- Assess patient needs and provide individualised care.
- Monitor patient condition pre-operative and post-operative, recognising and responding to complications.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with hospital policies and NMC guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, governance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide clear information and reassurance to patients and families.
Person Specification:
- Minimum 18 months post-registration experience in nursing.
- Experience of working in a team.
- Knowledge of surgical nursing practices and patient pathways.
- Can demonstrate a good understanding of good patient care.
- Able to work shifts.
- Positive, professional, and polite.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC Registration.
- Minimum 18 months post-registration experience.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
