The main purpose of this post is to support the reception team with establishing a friendly, helpful and effective welcome to patients and visitors to St Joseph’s Hospice (STJH), whilst also providing a general guiding and way finding service. The role also includes general admin tasks.
- Welcoming all visitors to the hospice and providing direction to their destination where required.
- Answering the phone.
- General admin duties such as sorting the post and answering emails.
- Logging deliveries such as drink trolleys, parcels and shop donations.
- Ensuring the reception and hub area are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and are presentable at all times.
- Conducting routine inspections of the car park and maintaining accurate records of vehicles using the facility at least twice a shift.
Time requirement: Current core hours (4pm – 9pm or 5pm – 9pm), Monday to Friday.
Skills and qualities required:

- Basic IT skills.
Training offered:
- One day core training with the Volunteers team and role specific training from the reception team.
- Reimbursement of travel expenses up to TFL zones 1-6.
- Lunch allowance redeemable at the hospice after 3 hours volunteering.
- Opportunity to gain experience in a hospice setting.
- Reference provided after six months volunteering.
