About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Caretaker / Site Manager to look after our school and its grounds, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for our pupils, staff, and visitors. This is a vital role in the smooth daily running of St Joseph’s, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to our community. The ideal candidate will be well organised, reliable and able to work independently. 37 hours per week. Provisionally Term Time hours 6:30-9:30am and 1-5:30pm, Holiday hours 8am-3.30pm Monday to Friday all year round. Precise hours to be agreed with the successful candidate. Salary dependent on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Unlock and prepare the school premises each day for pupils and staff
- Maintain the school buildings and grounds to a high standard
- Liaise with contractors and obtain quotes for necessary maintenance and repairs
- Ensure proficiency in health and safety regulations, carrying out routine tests including alarms, fire safety, and lockdown procedures
- Manage and coordinate the cleaning team, including ordering and maintaining stock levels of consumables
- Secure the school by locking and setting alarms at the end of each day
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in site management, caretaking, or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of health and safety practises relevant to a school environment
- Ability to coordinate with contractors and manage maintenance tasks effectively
- Organisational skills to manage stock and consumables efficiently
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently
