Teaching Assistant

About this Role

St Joseph & St Theresa Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, child-centred and highly-skilled, teaching assistant with experience of supporting children in an educational setting. You will be expected to work as part of our passionate and dedicated early years team ensuring the welfare of all children at all times. This role will include delivering class PE lessons and working alongside the PE lead to ensure lessons meet the requirement of the curriculum.

We are a one-form entry primary school with approximately 223 children overall and between 16-20 children in the nursery.

The successful candidate will:

• Contribute to the Catholic ethos of the school
• Have flexible, energetic and 'can do' attitude
• Take responsibility for delivering PE lessons to all classes from nursery to Year 6
• Have a comprehensive understanding of the PE curriculum.
• Be prepared to run an after school club every day to all year groups for 1 hour
• Be available to support children at sporting events and competitions during the school day and after school
• Understand how to safeguard young children, make a positive contribution to their well-being and the importance of confidentiality
• Work collaboratively and communicate effectively as part of a supportive team to achieve the best possible outcomes for all children

We are offering the opportunity to work in a welcoming environment with a highly-experienced staff team and contribute to the Catholic ethos of our school. Training and support will be offered to the successful candidate to ensure they meet the minimum expectations of understanding Keeping Children Safe in Education Level 1, Safeguarding and Health & Safety obligations in relation to the role.

32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks a year (term time only + 5 inset days)

Working hours: Monday to Friday - exact hours to be discussed to ensure a daily school clubs can be offered to all year groups.
