About the role
St John’s Primary School and Nursery is a nurturing, inclusive and successful Primary school in the heart of Kenilworth. Due to the opening of our SEMH unit in September 2025, which is called The Nest, an exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an additional level 2/3 Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our friendly, supportive, forward thinking, dynamic team. We are looking for an inspiring and aspirational Teaching Assistant with the passion and drive to make a difference to our SEMH unit then this could be the opportunity for you.
The successful candidate will be:
- Enthusiastic and committed, who is flexible and reliable
- Caring and compassionate and understanding of the needs of our children and families
- Demonstrate excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to form excellent relationships with parents, carers, and staff
- Driven to have high expectations of yourself and others
- Have experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs
- Hold a recognised level 2/3 qualification
- Ability to cope with challenging behaviour
- Encourage engagement and inclusion
- Ability to think in a solution focused way
- Builds positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Is a strong team player
- Wants to develop their skills and make a real difference within our SEMH unit – The Nest
