This role matters: As your local Hospice, St John’s has been at the heart of the North Lancashire and South Lakes communities since the mid‑1980s, providing specialist palliative care to patients and those important to them during some of life’s most challenging times. As part of our commitment to the South Lakes area, we have an exciting permanent opportunity for a Community Fundraiser to join our growing team. You will play a key role in supporting our generous South Lakes community with their fundraising events, whilst raising vital income that directly supports the care we provide. We are looking for someone who is passionate, driven and committed to making a difference.

Responsibilities

  • Our Fundraising team supports a wide range of community events, from sky dives to coffee mornings, golf days to jumble sales and much more!
  • You will help raise awareness of our work across this area, supporting loyal fundraisers with their own events, and developing new fundraising opportunities.
  • This role would suit someone who loves variety and adventure, has strong organisational skills and has a talent for building positive relationships.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • You will be based at our Fundraising office within our Kendal Furniture Shop and will travel to events across the area we serve.
  • You will also attend training, meetings and other activities at the main Hospice when required.
  • It is essential that you hold a full UK manual driving licence with business insurance.
  • You will be entitled to claim out‑of‑pocket expenses, including mileage and parking, in accordance with our policy.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check. The current cost of this check is £54.30 and this will be deducted from the successful applicant's first salary payment. Based from the Kendal Fundraising office. Hours: 30 per week. Some flexibility needed to cover occasional evening and weekend community events, with time off in lieu given for these hours. Role Type: Permanent. Pay: £23,540.40–£24,273.60 per annum (based on 30 hours per week, dependent on pension scheme). Holiday: Not specified. Pension: St John’s Hospice Pension Scheme (St John’s pays an 8% employer contribution) or NHS Pension may be continued subject to eligibility. Closing Date: Sunday 12th July 2026.
