Senior Healthcare Assistant (Nights) in Jarrow

Overview

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will provide overnight support for patients with life‑limiting conditions in their own homes, giving vital respite for carers across the North Lancashire and South Lakes locality.

Responsibilities

• Work 23.75 hours per week, covering 5 nights over a fortnightly rota.
• Be present in the patient’s home from 9.45pm to 6.45am (9 hours), plus 15 minutes travel time and 15 minutes reading time before arrival.
• Provide a waking night‑sit, offering support and peace of mind to patients and their families.
• Receive a £15 night allowance for each night worked.
• Travel to locations within North Lancashire, South Lakeland, Cumbria, and parts of North Yorkshire.
• Claim out‑of‑pocket expenses (mileage and parking) according to the policy.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle during working hours.
• Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant or a similar supportive role.
• Compassionate, driven, and able to work independently in patients’ homes during overnight hours.
• Ability to handle emotionally challenging situations and support patients and family members.

Benefits

• £17,364.10 to £17,895.15 per year, NHS Pension subject to eligibility.
• £15 per night worked.
