St John’s College School, an outstanding independent co-educational day and boarding school for children aged 4–13, is seeking to appoint an Information Systems and Data Officer to join us as soon as possible. This newly created role comes at an exciting time for the School, as we implement a new Management Information System (MIS). The successful candidate will play a central role in maintaining operational continuity during the transition and will go on to become the long-term owner of the new system.

The Role

  • Maintain the day-to-day operation of the School’s current MIS during transition
  • Accurately administer pupil, staff and parent records
  • Manage user accounts and data structures
  • Provide first-line systems and data support to staff
  • Administer academic reporting cycles, markbooks and assessment data
  • Manage standardised testing imports, validation and reporting
  • Administer peripheral systems (e.g. Parents' Evening booking system)
  • Oversee co-curricular clubs administration, including sign-up and parent requests
  • Work closely with external consultants during MIS implementation
  • Develop deep ownership of the new MIS post go-live
  • Oversee technical administration of the School's web Portal
  • Act as documentation librarian for policies and procedures
  • Deputise for the Administration Manager when required, providing operational cover

The role is highly developmental. Full training and support will be provided throughout the MIS implementation process by specialist consultants.

About You

  • Have strong IT literacy and a well-developed data management and database systems mindset
  • Be highly organised, accurate and comfortable working with complex data
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Be able to explain technical processes clearly and patiently
  • Work confidently both independently and collaboratively
  • Be discreet and professional when handling sensitive information
  • Experience with school MIS platforms such as iSAMS, 3Sys or Veracross is highly desirable, but applicants with relevant systems or data experience—particularly within an education setting—are strongly encouraged to apply.
