St John's College, one of the largest Colleges within the University of Cambridge, is seeking to appoint a College Assistant Professor in Applied Mathematics. This is an early career development post and is offered for a fixed term period of three years to cover a period of leave. The start date is negotiable, but the appointee must be in post by 1 January 2027.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide excellent supervisions in Applied Mathematics for undergraduate students reading for the Mathematical Tripos at the University of Cambridge.
- Undertake scholarly research within their specialist field and build a high-quality publication record.
- Contribute to the academic life of the College, including teaching, mentoring, admissions-related activity and other academic responsibilities, with a view to developing an academic career in Mathematics.
The salary offered will be in the range of £47,389 - £53,301 per annum (placement on the scale will be dependent on experience). The actual salary paid will be adjusted to reflect the actual number of supervisions delivered. The salary is pensionable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS). Additional remuneration will, if applicable, be paid for acting as Director of Studies or Tutor role and for examining and interviewing of candidates for admissions. The successful candidate will also be provided with the usual benefits of a Fellowship in the College.
