We are seeking a Lymphoedema Therapist to join our dedicated and compassionate team. The role involves rotation between two sites: St John’s Hospice and Charing Cross Hospital, as well as conducting home visits when required. This offers a diverse experience with various patient populations, ensuring that the needs of the service are met.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with lymphoedema or chronic oedema, addressing physical, psychological, and psychosocial needs in line with best practice and clinical guidelines.
- Develop and implement care plans tailored to individual patient needs, using appropriate treatment modalities such as compression therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, and education. Ensure treatment plans are evidence‑based.
- Regularly evaluate the patient's progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure continued improvement and effective symptom management.
- Work closely with other healthcare professionals within the hospice and hospital teams to ensure continuity of care, providing advice and sharing relevant patient information where needed.
- Provide clear and practical information to patients and their families about managing lymphoedema and oedema, ensuring patients are supported in managing their condition independently.
- Serve as a clinical resource for other healthcare professionals, offering guidance on lymphoedema management and maintaining clinical standards.
- Participate in the lymphoedema peer group clinical supervision.
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of care by participating in audits and reviews of patient outcomes, ensuring the service maintains a high standard of care delivery.
- Ensure appropriate use of resources, including equipment and supplies, and assist in managing stock levels effectively. Highlight any resource constraints to the Lead Practitioner.
- Contribute to the development and adherence to departmental policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and high‑quality care across the service.
- Employ excellent communication skills in conveying complex or sensitive information at times.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse or State registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist
- Internationally approved certificate as a Lymphoedema Therapist (Foeldi, Vodder, Casley‑Smith, Leduc or equivalent)
- Professional registration
- Educated to first degree level or equivalent
- Excellent lymphoedema clinical skills
