St. John Fisher Catholic Comprehensive School is seeking an enthusiastic and well‑qualified Teacher of English to lead the English and Media Departments as Head of Faculty from September 2026. Pay MPS/UPS+ TLR1a (£17,216) or Lead Practitioner 12 (£68,233) depending on experience and skills.
Overview
The successful candidate will be an English specialist who can realise a vision for teaching and learning, supported by an able team of staff. Working closely with the Senior Leader, they will create an engaging, challenging curriculum for students of all abilities across all subjects, model good teaching practice, and inspire others through effective, exciting lessons.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the English and Media Departments and act as Head of Faculty from September 2026.
- Work with the Senior Leader to design and implement an engaging curriculum.
- Deliver high‑quality teaching across Key Stages 3‑5, including A‑Level English Literature and Media.
- Model good teaching practice and inspire colleagues through exceptional lessons.
- Coordinate a bespoke CPD programme tailored to the faculty’s needs.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive learning experience.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding and welfare for all students.
Qualifications & Experience
- Well‑qualified Teacher of English, with specialist experience in English and Media.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver an engaging curriculum.
- Experience of leading or managing a teaching department is desirable.
- Full enhanced DBS check required; must be eligible to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship).
