Teacher

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Teacher role based at St John Fisher Catholic College in Newcastle-under-Lyme. The teacher will be able to teach any subjects of English, RE, History or Technology. The Teacher will plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons that support high academic achievement and personal development, in line with the school’s Catholic ethos and curriculum requirements. Daily responsibilities include assessing and tracking student progress, providing timely feedback, and adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs. The role involves maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment, managing behavior effectively, and supporting students’ well-being. The Teacher will also contribute to departmental planning, attend staff meetings and parent/carer consultations, participate in school liturgies and events where appropriate, and support extra-curricular activities.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Education, with appropriate teaching qualifications (e.g., Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent) and subject knowledge relevant to the curriculum.
• Proficiency in Lesson Planning and Teaching, including designing differentiated learning activities, setting clear objectives, and using assessment to inform instruction.
• Excellent Communication skills, with the ability to build constructive relationships with students, colleagues, parents/carers, and external partners.
• Experience in Training, mentoring, or supporting learners and/or colleagues, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Understanding of and willingness to support the Catholic ethos and values of the school, whether or not the applicant is a practicing Catholic.
• Ability to create an inclusive classroom, managing behavior positively and safeguarding the welfare of all students.
• Competence in using digital tools and learning technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and record-keeping.
• Experience or interest in contributing to extra-curricular activities, enrichment programs, or pastoral support is highly desirable.
