St John Ambulance provide First Aid and Medical Provision to thousands of events each year. You will be providing clinical care to patients presenting to St John Ambulance across our exciting and varied events portfolio. Our Event Healthcare Professionals will be providing pre‑hospital care at a large range of exciting events such as music festivals, motoring, equestrian & sports events. You will be supported with modern equipment and vehicles, working alongside our volunteers and other employed St John people. This role will primarily involve shifts during sociable hours although some may be long in duration. You will be working alongside a blended team of SJA volunteers, event organisers and other uniformed emergency services at events demonstrating clinical leadership and support. It is essential that you have experience in managing acutely unwell patients in the emergency setting, whether that be in an emergency department or pre‑hospital.
About You
- Registered paramedic (Excl. NQP)
- Evidence of CPD activity within the last 12 months
- Educated to degree level or evidence of post‑registration advance study
- Evidence of regular and recent experience in managing acutely unwell patients in the pre‑hospital environment
- Experience of accessing and/or referring to alternative care pathways
- Experience in safely discharging patients
About the Role
- Willing to accept work at various event deployments on a casual basis as advertised by the Events Team to provide care to patients.
- Deployments on events may include ambulance crew or stationed at a Treatment Centre; flexible approach required.
- Deliver clinical care, in line with the standards set by your regulatory body (HCPC).
- Work to the Scope of Practice framework set by St John Ambulance.
- Utilise senior clinical help when faced with situations / clinical presentations outside of your knowledge base.
- Ensure appropriate and timely referrals are made to other agencies, utilising agreed procedures.
- Work with the event clinical management team to maintain infection, prevention, and control standards.
