As one of the country’s best-loved charities, St John Ambulance played a pivotal role in responding to the pandemic as well as ‘everyday’ health emergencies, training, supporting communities, and improving young people’s lives.
We currently have a part-time role for an experienced People Services Advisor. You will work closely with our People Leads, Strategy Partners, and wider Advisor team, providing general Advisor support as required. As a People Services Advisor, you will be responsible for providing advice, guidance, and support to senior employee managers on all aspects of engagement, policies, and procedures including recruitment, inductions, development reviews, disciplinaries, grievances, and change management programmes which will include consultation responsibilities.
You will help our managers champion our values as well as help them to better manage their people, supporting through coaching and guiding when needed. You will also liaise with our My Support Service teams to help implement important changes to process and support. Location can be anywhere, and hybrid working is possible; travel from time to time will be required.

About You: We are looking for someone with initiative, good interpersonal & communication skills, and the ability to build professional relationships. The ability to work in a diverse, flexible, and fast-paced environment is essential, which will require you to travel both locally and across the country as needed. You will be able to demonstrate sound experience of working in a range of generalist People areas, working with stakeholders across a number of different functions to resolve situations quickly and effectively, and advising both managers and employees/volunteers on a range of generalist People and Culture queries across the life cycle of an employee. Supporting change management programmes, consultation, and experience of TUPE would be useful.
About The Role: Guide and advise managers on alternatives to formal sanctions, with the intention of resolving matters at an informal stage such as coaching, training, mentoring, and mediation. Support and advise managers on casework matters from initial conversations through to final internal stages of processes up to and occasionally including appeal. Provide best practice advice on all recruitment matters.
