As a Senior Support Engineer for our Data Platform, Snowflake and Matillion, you will be a key part of the St. James’s Place infrastructure team. You’ll be working to support the technology and processes used to deliver and support the SJP Data Platform technologies, specialising in Snowflake, Matillion or a combination. You will be responsible for ensuring the platform is maintained in line with provider recommendations to ensure a highly resilient service is available to our community. Resolving incidents, proactive monitoring and associated actions to deliver such a service. It also ensures that policies are adhered to and that the necessary support processes are in place to enforce IT controls, such as access management, recoverability testing, and compliance requirements. We are a cloud first organisation and make extensive use of SaaS, IaaS, PaaS solutions. You’ll be staying ahead of key developments and continuously committing to improvements through automation and performance tuning methods.
- Provide expert-level support to customers using the SJP Data Platform technologies
- Incident resolution for the platform
- Proactive monitoring and maintenance to ensure high level of operational resilience
- Application of SJP's IT policies and IT controls for the platform technologies
- Carry out technical support as required on the platform, supporting the technical consultant to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement and feeding into governance as required
- Act as a subject-matter guide for Snowflake and/or Matillion within the Technology Operations division providing guidance as the need arises
- Work closely with internal and 3rd party architects that run and design the architecture for the SJP Data Platform
- Develop strong relationships with key customers, understanding their needs and ensuring the availability and accessibility of the SJP Data Platform meets those needs
- Support the Technical Consultant to understand strategic business requirements, business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determine corresponding support requirements
A methodical and analytical mindset, with a detail-oriented approach. Good communication and collaboration skills with a proactive approach to problem solving. The ideal candidate will also have a growth mindset, eager to stay updated on industry trends and share knowledge with the team.
Essential Criteria- Expertise in Snowflake and/or Matillion platforms including performance tuning, automation, security & procedures
- Experience working within a cloud first environment handling data platforms such as SaaS IaaS & PaaS
- Demonstrable experience of incident management, diagnosis and resolving complex issues related to data integration, transformation and storage within Snowflake and/or Matillion
- Ability to collaborate with internal teams, external providers, architects, and business partners to ensure platform operation and support
- Experience with data security and compliance frameworks relating to data platforms ie GDPR
- Experience in identifying opportunities for automation, implementing solutions and improving operational efficiency
On occasion the successful person may need to work outside core hours and travel to other SJP locations.
