This presents an opportunity to design a data strategy aligned with the organization’s goals and execute the delivery of data effectively. D&I enables SJP to leverage value from its data through actionable insights and data‑led decision making. The Data Architecture, Platform and Engineering (DAPE) Division integrates architecture, platform and engineering to establish guidelines, principles and development standards aimed at building a secure, resilient data platform for the future. It plays a key role in supporting the SJP data ecosystem, driving towards the SJP data strategy and advancing the decommissioning roadmap.
Reporting to the Divisional Director in the Data Architecture, Platform & Engineering division of the Data & Insights (D&I) team, the role holder will be responsible for leading a team of analysts, developers and testers, and manage tasks and workstreams within a specific Data Feature Team and related projects.
What you’ll be doing:
- Using your knowledge and expertise to drive solutions and resolve data related issues within projects and workstreams.
- Ensuring changes to requirements of projects are managed effectively within the assigned team.
- Engaging as early as possible with potential projects to help advise and inform the scope and objectives to ensure the full impact and implications on data are understood.
- Working with feature team Project Managers to ensure Agile epics and stories are set up correctly, and tracked through delivery to completion.
- Ensuring new projects are scoped and initiated effectively and align with change control processes and organisational priorities.
- Ensuring smooth transition of Project deliverables to Data Operations in a controlled and supportable manner and having a good understanding of Project Milestones.
- Being the key liaison between Third Party development teams and promoting Data Quality throughout project lifecycle.
Who we’re looking for:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineering Analyst who will share responsibility for the end‑to‑end delivery of all project‑related data deliverables for their Data Feature Team. They are also expected to be involved in planning, coordinating, shaping the design, development, testing and implementation of data developments and ensuring these align to both our Data Strategy and Corporate aims.
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience communicating complex issues to non‑technical stakeholders and the ability to explain why a technical approach should be avoided and confidently challenge as a technical SME.
- Competent stakeholder management skills and capable of fostering mutually beneficial relationships across multiple business areas.
- Competent using database tools including Snowflake & SQL.
- Proven skills in collaborating with data engineering teams to ensure they have all the necessary information and requirements to proceed with development.
- Experience working alongside PMS, BAs, Testers, Developers and to project lifecycle best practice.
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe and Lean.
- Clear understanding of the importance of data accuracy, consistency, validity, integrity, and the value that excellent data delivers to the organisation.
