To serve one or more Scrum teams and protect them from any distractions and remove impediments that could prevent them from completing sprint goals. The Scrum Master will create an environment that is responsive to change, in which Scrum teams can be self-organising and deliver high quality product increments. Working with the wider business the Scrum Master will educate Scrum teams in Agile and Scrum values and principles and help develop and implement the strategy for Agile adoption and transformation within SJP.
What you’ll be doing:
- Facilitate the Scrum team – setting up Scrum ceremonies and hosting them (Product Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review and Sprint Retrospective);
- Ensure the Scrum team adheres to the practices of Scrum and provide the best environment for the Scrum team to achieve success, including coaching on Scrum framework;
- Create the right environment for the Scrum team members to be open and honest in the daily Scrum meeting and sprint retrospectives;
- Ensure collaborative working amongst Scrum team members;
- Remove impediments raised in the daily Scrum meeting to ensure progress;
- Work with the Product Owner to ensure the product backlog is in good order;
- Work with the Product Owner to ensure the product vision and roadmap is on track;
- Ensure that the Scrum team are using and updating JIRA appropriately and in a timely manner;
- Work with the Agile Coaches and other Senior Scrum Masters, Scrum Masters and Product Owners to improve the Scrum framework at SJP;
- Contribute to the collaborative development of the overall strategy for organisational adoption and transformation to Agile ways of working.
This includes every stage of adoption from increasing awareness and employee education, to fostering teams that practice Agile processes and techniques, to sustaining an Agile framework within SJP and continually offering strategies for improvement, in line with industry best practice.
Who we’re looking for:
- A confident communicator that can work with stakeholders across the business at all levels to ensure scrum teams remain productive, while educating on agile/scrum values.
- Strong understanding and experience with Agile frameworks, Scrum theory, and practices, including a relevant certification as a Scrum Master.
- Proven ability to facilitate Scrum ceremonies and foster collaboration within Scrum teams.
- Experience in working with Product Owners and others to align product backlogs, ensure the product vision is on track, and drive collaborative Agile adoption strategies across multiple teams.
- Proven experience in Scrum roles, with proven success in delivering multiple products using Agile practices as well as mentoring others.
- Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving capabilities, and effective time management.
- Working knowledge of JIRA.
- Creative thinking to put forward new approaches.
- Knowledge of the SAFe framework and experience working within an Agile Release Train (ART), collaborating with Release Train Engineers and other Scrum Masters.
