The Private Client Consultant reports into the Head of Private Client Consultancy, within the Advice Support Team of the Advice Division. The main purpose of the role is to represent St. James’s Place Private Clients and support Partners to engage, advise and service high net worth and ultra‑high net worth prospects and clients. This is a senior technical role and will be responsible for positioning the SJP proposition, providing complex technical guidance to Partners’ clients, to help secure new and retain existing business whilst also maintaining a strong profile. The role will work collaboratively with the Private Client Advice and Service teams to support Partners and clients with HNW and UHNW cases. In performing the role, the Private Client Consultant will take into account the interests of the Group’s key stakeholders. In particular, acting in line with the Group’s stated risk appetite and seeking to achieve positive outcomes in respect of clients, Partners, financials and shareholders, regulators and employees.
What you’ll be doing:
- Delivering the Private Client and Advice proposition into SJPWM, using experience and knowledge to support Partners with acquisition and retention of HNW and UHNW clients.
- Leveraging business development skills to help Partners engage prospects and win new clients in the HNW/UHW space.
- Using technical skills and professional experience to support Partners to advise their clients, offering specialist tax and technical support at client meetings, developing pitch and tender documents, presenting to clients and leading on complex and high‑profile cases.
- Working with Partners and FMT to identify Private Client advice opportunities, taking into account circumstances and needs of both the Partner and client.
- Building and maintaining a strong internal and external network, to enable delivery of a market‑leading experience for Partners and clients working closely across multiple departments and with external industry professionals.
- Being an SME across Group, maintaining an expert up‑to‑date knowledge on tax, trust and investment structuring and planning.
- Representing and raising the profile of the SJP Private Client brand, presenting at appropriate internal, Partner, FMT and client events.
Who we’re looking for:
A senior Private Client specialist with deep technical expertise and commercial acumen to support advisers in winning, retaining, and delivering exceptional outcomes for high and ultra‑high‑net‑worth clients.
Essential Skills:
- Advanced technical expertise in tax, trust, investment structuring, and financial planning for HNW/UHNW clients.
- Strong business development and client acquisition skills within the private client market.
