About the role
We’re looking for a diligent and analytical professional to join our New Lending team, supporting the assessment and approval of new lending proposals across our Partnership. Our Partner Loan Book exceeds £800m, and robust financial underwriting is critical to ensuring lending remains appropriate, sustainable and aligned to borrower needs. In this role, you’ll provide financial insight, analysis and assurance to Lending Managers, working closely with Partners and internal stakeholders to support business growth while delivering good customer outcomes.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assessing the affordability of Partner loan applications and preparing recommendations for approval by Lending Managers
- Analysing historic financial accounts, identifying trends in revenue and costs, and sense-checking forecasts and projections
- Reviewing Business Sale & Purchase performance to support settlement of staged and future contractual payments
- Preparing and issuing lending deeds and documentation, coordinating with Legal where required and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Working with external lenders to reduce reliance on internal funds for bridging transactions in line with agreed KPIs
- Liaising directly with Partners across the business to support lending conversations, reviews and refinances
Who we’re looking for:
We’re seeking someone who is analytical, methodical and comfortable working with financial data, who can apply good judgement to underwriting decisions. You’ll be self-motivated, highly organised and confident engaging with Partners and stakeholders at all levels.
Essential skills and experience:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements, forecasts and affordability calculations
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, with confidence manipulating and analysing data
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to self-review work and ensure accuracy
- Effective time management skills, able to manage multiple lending requests and deliver to deadlines
Desirable skills:
- Understanding of different trading entities and tax structures within professional partnerships
- Experience working in a lending, underwriting or financial assessment environment within a regulated setting
What’s in it for you?
We reward you for the work you do, whether that’s through our discretionary annual bonus scheme that reflects both personal and company performance, competitive annual leave allowance (28 days plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase an additional 5 days), or online rewards platform with a variety of discounts. We also have benefits to support whatever stage of life you are in, including:
- Competitive parental leave (26 weeks full pay)
- Private medical insurance (optional taxable benefit)
- 10% non-contributory pension (increasing with length of service)
Reasonable Adjustments
We’re an equal opportunities employer and want to ensure our recruitment process is accessible and inclusive for all. If you require reasonable adjustment(s) at any stage please let us know by emailing us.
