The Programme and Project Delivery team is comprised of Programme Managers, Project Managers, and Agile Delivery professionals, working collaboratively to drive efficient change delivery. The Release Train Engineer will have strong experience Agile experience with a proven track record of delivering multiple products using Scrum or Kanban within a SAFe environment.

The Release Train Engineer’s main responsibilities will be to facilitate the Agile Release Train (ART) events and processes and assist the teams on the ART in delivering value. The Release Train Engineer will educate Scrum teams in SAFe, Agile, Scrum and Kanban values and principles. They will help develop and implement the strategy for Agile adoption and transformation within SJP.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the delivery teams on the Agile Release Train(ART) through development and delivery
  • Facilitating all ART level ceremonies including but not limited to Program Increment Planning, System Demo, Inspect & Adapt and ART sync events
  • Managing and optimising the flow of value through the Program Kanban
  • Facilitating Program Increment Planning readiness by fostering a continuous exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Program vision, Program roadmap and Program backlog, through pre and post PI planning events
  • Establishing and communicating the calendar for Program Increments and Iterations
  • Summarising team Program Increments objectives and socialise them for visibility and transparency
  • Assisting in tracking the execution of features and capabilities
  • Assisting with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary

Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an experienced Release Train Engineer who can develop and mentor scrum masters and foster a relentless improvement environment.

Essential Criteria:

  • Specialist knowledge, experience and a comprehensive understanding of Agile frameworks, Agile at scale and Scrum, Kanban, SAFe principles and practices.
  • Able to improve the flow of value through value streams by optimising release train best practises and drive relentless improvement.
  • Able to produce and track key metrics at release train level (e.g. predictability and flow metrics)
  • Skills in facilitating and motivating an Agile Release Train (ART), providing support, guidance and assistance as required to meet Program objectives and Agile and Scrum values and principles.
  • Strong verbal and written communicator with clear adaptable skills to cater for senior non-technical and technical audiences.
  • Working knowledge of JIRA™ and Confluence™ and proficient in Agile tools.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of the specific financial service business area(s) impacted by the incremental delivery of value by the ART
  • Relevant Certifications and Qualifications including SAFe and Scrum Master.
