This includes significantly investing in technology, streamlining the way we work and creating an environment where colleagues feel engaged, empowered and accountable; where they can show up, speak up and perform - because we believe in the difference our work makes.

About the Role

We’ve got a great opportunity for an experienced Regulatory Reward or Compliance professional, ideally with expertise in the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR) to join our team. You’ll play a key role in supporting remuneration code activity, including oversight of the Material Risk Taker population, working closely with senior stakeholders to ensure regulatory requirements are met and risks are effectively identified and managed. Reporting to the Head of People Regulatory, you’ll have the autonomy to exercise independent judgement on regulatory matters, providing trusted, expert advice and delivering high-quality outcomes within agreed service levels. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with compliance or risk experience in financial services who is looking to deepen their expertise and become a recognised specialist in FCA/PRA People regulation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the timely and high-quality completion of Fitness and Propriety assessments for SMCR and other regulated employees, escalating complex or material risks where appropriate.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on SMCR, Conduct Rules and related regulation, advising the People team and senior stakeholders with confidence and clarity.
  • Ensure accurate, up-to-date regulatory records for SMCR and Certified populations, working closely with colleagues responsible for FCA Directory submissions.
  • Produce and analyse MI and reporting for senior forums, identifying trends, risks and recommended actions.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with key stakeholders, influencing positive regulatory outcomes and providing effective challenge where needed.
  • Manage inbound and outbound regulated references.
  • Support SMCR governance meetings, including preparation of papers and minutes.
  • Coach and support colleagues, sharing technical knowledge and best practice to build capability and consistency.
  • Contribute to wider regulatory and People initiatives, including audits, reviews and projects, bringing a strong regulatory lens to continuous improvement.

Who We’re Looking For

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in a compliance or risk role within UK financial services.
  • Ability to develop a strong working knowledge of SMCR, Conduct Rules and People regulatory processes, including Fitness and Propriety, certification, regulatory references and FCA Directory activity.
  • The ability to interpret regulation and translate it into clear, practical People processes and controls.
  • Credibility and confidence when working with senior stakeholders, handling sensitive issues with discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to prioritise, exercise sound judgement and know when to elevate issues.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance regulatory processes.
  • Comfortable using AI‑enabled tools to support efficiency and quality, with appropriate oversight.
  • Ability to develop sufficient breadth of expertise to deputise for the Head of People Regulatory when required.

Desirable

  • Experience of remuneration code requirements and their practical application.
