The role:
The role of Group Products ("the Division") is to develop and oversee the suite of products and services available to clients of St. James's Place, ensuring they are fairly priced, support business growth and deliver good client outcomes.
The main purpose of the role is to provide actuarial expertise and product technical support to both stakeholders across the SJP Group and on projects.
What you'll be doing:
- Provide support to different Leads of the Division at the direction of the Senior Manager of Actuarial Product Support on divisional projects or cross-business projects as Subject Matter Expert. Example projects may include launch of a new product, annual reviews of manufactured products or regulatory change impacting our products.
- Lead on small and medium-sized divisional projects as Subject Matter Expert. Example projects may include implementation of enhancements to our investment proposition to Illustrations and tools.
- Carry out checking of the work of Actuarial Specialists and Actuarial Analysts.
- Ensure accuracy of illustrations, terms and conditions, advice tools and product documentation.
- Provide product technical and actuarial support to the SJP Group, including the Partnership, on areas such as Capital Gains Tax calculations, Critical Yield Calculations, product functionality, illustrations and other calculations.
- Liaise and maintain relationships with teams across the business and with a range of third-party providers.
- Provide figures and analysis to support business decisions.
Who we're looking for:
We're looking for a proactive and collaborative professional with strong analytical and communication skills. The ideal candidate will work closely with teams across the business, providing expert support on projects, ensuring accuracy in product information, and helping to simplify complex actuarial concepts for a range of stakeholders.
Essential Criteria
- Qualified or nearly qualified actuary with financial services and/or commercial experience (not strictly UK experience, consider other regions).
- Excellent Excel and other IT skills, including coding (e.g. VBA, R, Python).
- Proven track-record leading small and medium-sized divisional projects with the ability to support larger cross-business projects as a Subject Matter Expert.
- Expert in providing product technical and actuarial support, such as financial projections, modelling, and other actuarial calculations.
Desirable Criteria
- Solid understanding of the financial services business environment is required to make recommendations to the Senior Manager of Actuarial Product Support and Leads in the team with confidence.
- Experience at and an interest to coach, mentor, and lead others. This role may need to take up line management responsibilities in future.
Special Requirements:
This role is based in Cirencester- we operate a hybrid working approach, with an expectation to attend the office regularly.
