We are seeking a skilled and passionate Vegetarian Chef for a prestigious household in the heart of Westminster. This role involves creating high-quality, flavourful vegetarian meals tailored to specific dietary needs and preferences. The ideal candidate is well-versed in vegetarian cuisine, experienced in working in a private household, and capable of delivering exquisite dishes in a structured, refined setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and culinary arts, with the ability to lead and inspire a kitchen team. This role requires a commitment to food safety and quality, ensuring that every dish meets our high standards of excellence. As a Chef, you will play a crucial role in creating memorable dining experiences for our guests while maintaining an efficient and organised kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with the menu and families'/guests' preferences.
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily for the household (14 to 20 People), focusing on nutrition, flavour, and presentation.
  • Design customized menus that incorporate seasonal, organic, and locally-sourced ingredients.
  • Accommodate any special dietary restrictions and preferences while maintaining a varied, creative menu using the finest ingredients.
  • Maintain food safety standards and hygiene protocols throughout the kitchen.
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness, organization, and adherence to all food safety standards.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Monitor kitchen performance and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a private household setting.
  • Ensure timely completion of cooking and serving foods.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and front-of-house staff, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth operations.

Must be able to work comfortably during busy hours and have a passion and genuine desire to cook nutritious, flavourful, and healthy vegetarian food. The Chef may need to travel abroad when the family travels abroad for holidays if required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Cook or Chef in a hospitality environment or in a prestigious household environment specialising in vegetarian cuisine.
  • Strong knowledge of vegetarian, vegan, and plant-based cooking techniques and skills.
  • Perfect attention to detail and presentation skills.
  • Discretion, confidentiality, and the ability to work independently in a private home setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food production.
  • Proficient in various cooking techniques and cuisines, demonstrating creativity in culinary presentation.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and service.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and front-of-house staff.

Benefits and Working Conditions

  • Competitive salary, holiday, pension.

  • Flexibility to work 10-11 hour shifts, normally from Monday to Friday/Saturday, may need to work on certain Sundays and bank holidays if required.
  • Starting pay rate: £40,000 to £45,000 per year depending on experience. Overtime is paid at the same rate (prorated).
