Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an outstanding Geography Teacher to join St Hugh\'s as a Head of Geography. The successful candidate will be passionate about education and have the idea, drive, and enthusiasm to lead this department in the next phase of academic development at St Hugh\'s.

St Hugh\'s is a highly regarded coeducational day and boarding school with 350 pupils. We are situated on a beautiful green campus of 40 acres in the South Oxfordshire countryside, only 25 minutes from Central Oxford. In June 2025, the Headmaster and Governors announced that St Hugh\'s would be opening a Senior School in September 2026. It is a very exciting time to be joining St Hugh\'s.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Geography department as Head of Geography.
  • Report directly to the Deputy Head Academic.
  • This is a part-time position (0.36 FTE), working across two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday).
  • There will be an opportunity to increase hours as the Senior School launches, and the post may become full-time in due course.
  • The advantage to teach other subjects including (but not exclusively) Business Studies to KS4 will be an advantage and support additional hours being offered.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Outstanding Geography teacher with a passion for education and the idea, drive, and enthusiasm to lead the department.
  • Ability to contribute to the academic development of the school and collaborate with staff to achieve excellence.
  • Flexible to teach other subjects to KS4 (e.g., Business Studies) to support additional hours as needed.
