About the Role

St Helens South Primary Care Network (PCN) is seeking a motivated and patient-focused Receptionist to join our Patient Access & Services team.

As a bank Receptionist staff you will provide a professional, efficient and welcoming front-of-house service for the PCN Hub, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of reception services for our population of approximately 85,000 patients across 10 GP practices.

This role is central to ensuring patients receive timely access to services and a positive experience when contacting or visiting St Helens South PCN Ltd.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a professional and welcoming front-of-house service to patients and visitors
  • Manage appointment bookings, cancellations and patient queries
  • Handle incoming telephone calls efficiently and courteously
  • Direct patients to the appropriate clinician or service where appropriate
  • Process repeat prescription requests and patient registrations
  • Maintain accurate patient records using clinical systems (EMIS)
  • Carry out administrative tasks including scanning, data entry and correspondence
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to information governance standards
  • Support the wider clinical and non-clinical PCN team, including GPs, to ensure effective service delivery.

  • Organised with strong IT and administrative skills
  • Able to work under pressure in a busy healthcare environment
  • A team player who can also work independently

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with the public or in a healthcare/customer service environment
  • Good IT and communication skillsEMIS knowledge

Desirable

  • Experience in primary care or GP reception
