Making A Difference as the Lead AMHP (Team Manager) in the Working Age, Adult Social Work Team.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified person to undertake the challenging but rewarding role of Lead AMHP, the post is based within the Working Age Social Work team, the post is managed by the Head of Social Work for Working Age.
The post of the Lead AMHP sits within the management team of the Working Age, Adult Social Work Team and is to assist in the management, supervision, and professional development of Social Workers/AMHP’s within the Adult Social Work and AMHPs that sit in other service areas.
To provide specialist social work support and advice under the Mental Health Act 1983 and to provide a professional leadership role for the AMHP provision. The role will also provide peer supervision, links to Social Work education, delivery of training, oversight, and coordination of student placements in conjunction with Manchester University.
The Lead AMHP will also be expected to attend conferences and training events, attendance at local and regional network meetings. To coordinate and manage daily all requests for Mental Health Act Assessment as well as continuing to practice as an AMHP and to play an active role on the rota. To work closely with the Head of Social Work, to identify gaps in service and assist in the development of innovative services. To be responsible for recording and monitoring required activity of the AMHP service and submitting monthly statistics to the Head of Social Work.
The Working Age Team works with adults from the age of 18 to 67 with a Learning Disability, Physical Disability, and enduring mental health diagnosis. The team is very busy and the work complex and challenging, as part of the management team you will be expected to cover for the Team Manager when absent and to provide on-going support/cover to the other members of the management team who are responsible for managing the functions of Duty and Safeguarding.
You will also be required to provide out of hours support to the two-part time AMHPs that work each weekday up to 8pm, this may on occasions be later depending on the outcome of assessments. This will also include being available for all AMHPs that are out later than standard working hour, you will be expected to provide professional support.

Qualifications
You must be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, and a qualified Approved Mental Health Professional in order to perform the statutory duties of an AMHP for St Helens Borough Council. We also welcome applications from other professionals who hold the AMHP qualification.
