Part-time (2.5–3 days per week) teaching role with TESSA Hearing. The role may extend to full-time once a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf.
Responsibilities
- Promote inclusive education and offer specialist support, teaching, advice and audiological management to deaf children and young people in homes, nurseries, schools and colleges.
- Travel daily between office bases, children’s homes, nurseries, schools and colleges; transport provided.
- Manage diary, work independently and as part of the team.
- Learn and use new IT systems and adapt to remote working.
- Apply knowledge of deafness, language development, learning and self-identity to teaching.
- Collaborate professionally, demonstrating integrity, humility and understanding.
- Build long-term positive relationships with children and families, sometimes from birth.
- Maintain knowledge of specialist equipment and technology for deaf children.
- Advise on person-centred outcomes, contributing to statutory assessments (EHCP), annual reviews etc.
- Keep up with the imminent national changes to SEND support and contribute to local developments.
Qualifications
- Mandatory or willing to undertake a two-year part-time course to become a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf.
- A current Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is expected.
- Experience supporting children with SEND is highly desirable.
