Making A Difference as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in Contact Cares, Reablement and Occupational Therapy. St Helens Cares is the new approach to delivering Health and Social Care in St Helens; bringing together a wide range of public and community service organisations to work in partnership, with a united goal of improving people’s lives and improving the place as a whole. Key to this vision is Contact Cares; which aims to simplify the way we access health and social care services from nursing assessment to social care; reablement to audiology, safeguarding to occupational therapy. Our Occupational Therapy Team are committed to supporting and assisting people with disabilities to improve their quality of life and be as independent as possible in their home environment.

We are seeking a well-motivated and enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure to join our established and supportive community-based team at St Helens Council. You will visit people in their own homes to assess their daily living needs, provide vital equipment and make recommendations to adapt their home environment to support them to live safely and independently. You should have experience in working in a health, social care, or housing environment and a good understanding of specialist equipment and home adaptations. Experience in supporting people with disabilities is highly desirable. Good IT skills would be an advantage.

This post is 5 days a week Monday to Friday.

Employees can regularly work away from Council workspaces (including home or other locations), alongside required office-based working. The balance between remote and office-based working is determined at service level based on operational need, however, there has been a minimum specification that staff will work at least 2 days from an office-based location.
